Carlisle for Nevada

Common Sense for Carson City

I understand what leadership entails, and can assure you I have the tenacity, the drive, the strength of will, and the necessary abilities to provide the leadership Nevada needs.

As your Governor, I will fight every day to protect our Constitution and the wonderful people of this great State.

Lotto

Let’s make a win for Nevada.

Lotto would bring a big win for schools; they should receive an estimated $50-$60 million in the form of tax revenue which they need. It would mean a big win for Nevadans who would like to play the lotto without having to drive out of state. It would also mean a big win for the casinos, by allowing only the casinos with sports books to participate.  They will benefit with incremental business.

As your Governor, I will work with the State Legislature and gaming commission to change the laws that currently inhibit Lotto coming to Nevada.

Voter ID

The sanctity of our elections is an issue politicians really don’t want to address.  This should be one of the main issues because when recounts are done, they are only verifying votes cast and not the fraud.

Look at District 15 in Nevada which is only one out of 42 districts in this state. One suggestion I have in this area is “First I.D for Free.”  Most people will not need this because they almost always get a driver’s license; however, a state I.D could be provided when an individual turns 18 if they cannot afford one. This should stop politicians suggesting voter I.D is discriminatory against those who cannot afford an I.D; this will pave the way to a “No Excuse” voter I.D law.

Education in Nevada

Education

This is an obvious travesty in Nevada; our children deserve better.  First, school choice should be implemented, and vouchers should be instituted to allow for parental choice and incentivize competition between schools.

Secondly, we should look at several avenues of change; I suggest pulling talent from the top performing districts nationwide and implementing similar policies that have proven successful. Also in public schools, we should consider extending the school day by 45 minutes. This mandatory homework session at the end of every day will provide students an opportunity to receive assistance from their teacher when they might not receive it at home.

I could also envision the creation of two or three military style high schools in the State, offering parents and students who are interested another option for education and training. These students will become strong leaders with an opportunity to receive their associates degree upon graduation - providing them a head start toward their continuing education or career.

Economy in Nevada

Economy

Billions of dollars in debt is not responsible.  As your Governor, I will make it my priority to review areas where excess overspending is crippling our State Budget.  The Nevada taxpayers are being taken advantage of, and it must STOP!  As a businesswoman who has helped many different types of Nevada businesses grow and succeed, I will cut stifling regulations and make the Nevada tax structure more business friendly.  (Including the 2015 Commerce Tax which was supposed to support education.)

Attracting new business is crucial for the economy and job creation; however, I am just as excited about implementing policy that would make it easier for my fellow Nevadans to become entrepreneurs themselves.  People who are hard workers, people with families, people with integrity, people willing to take a risk on an idea they are willing to fight for - these are the people that will make our economy boom!

Carson City continuing to raise our taxes, spend our money, and stand in the way of progress is not the way to make this happen.

Energy Policy in Nevada

Energy

Innovations will afford us responsible and efficient options.  I will be conscious of any environmental issues while implementing policy in order to protect this beautiful State's natural environment.

My belief is that sustainable possibilities in clean energy will provide Nevada homeowners with better options.  When the government gets out of the way, individual consumers will have better access to more viable options.

Meet The Candidate

Stephanie Carlisle

Business Professional

Every job I’ve ever held has either been in management or a leadership role. From my first job in high school as a shift manager at a restaurant, to my current job in commercial business finance. I am the mother of four beautiful children, who are my number one inspiration. As someone who grew up moving from place to place living on public assistance; with a single father who struggled for a majority of my childhood to lift us out of poverty, I know firsthand the kinds of challenges faced by so many here in Nevada.

It’s time this state had a true political outsider, someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and lead from the trenches. I’m prepared to spearhead the kinds of broad changes we need in our bureaucracy, in-spite of the challenges generally associated with change.

The fastest, most transparent and least objectionable way to bring governmental spending in line, is to audit every single State government agency/department/organization/committee - and hold the directors/leaders responsible for any impropriety.

Nevada needs fresh eyes on practically every issue. Whether juggling the details of owning-operating my own business, or working closely with business owners and the general-public to protect and grow their financial futures; I’m intimately familiar with the struggles of Nevada employers and employees. Being extensively familiar with standard accounting practices, as Governor I’d be beholden to no-one but you; I’m ideally suited to call for legislation mandated independent audits by a team of forensic accountants. If we mismanaged resources allocated to us during our line of work, we would be held accountable to our employers – it should be no different for those who are supposed to be representing us.

I am the best choice to represent you as your Governor, to voice your concerns and fight for your causes, because they’re my causes too. This is our home, and it’s worth fighting for.
